He studied and practiced medicine in Belfast and rural Ulster before immigrating to Canada in 1970. He has published more than a dozen works of creative writing, all set in Northern Ireland. Taylor now lives on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, where he has completed the eleventh book in his Irish Country novels series.
