Summary: Docudrama following all aspects of the international illegal heroin industry. "Part one: In Pakistan to discuss a new aid agreement aimed at reducing opium production, British government minister Jack Lithgow encounters Fazal, a local farmer. In Hamburg, the seizure of a major drug shipment leads to the arrest of a high-profile German businessman, stunning his British wife, Helen. Part two: In Britain, Jack is distracted from his work by a family crisis involving his daughter, Caroline. Helen struggles to stabilize the family's finances and safeguard her children as her situation worsens and Karl is formally charged. Searching for work in Karachi, Fazal falls in with Tariq Butt, a major drug traffiker. Part three: Helen's desperation mounts and she wades deeper into her husband's world, despite constant police surveillance. As the crisis with his daughter persists, Jack's marriage begins to disintegrate. Fazal, now Tariq's chauffeur, observes the drug lord's mastery of the system." -- container.
