Summary:
Star D'Aplise is at a crossroads in her life after the sudden death of her adoptive father. He left a clue to her true heritage, and it leads her to an antiquarian bookshop in London. A hundred years earlier, headstrong and independent Flora MacNichol, happy and secure in England's Lake District, vowed never to marry. When machinations lead her to London, Flora is torn between passionate love and her duty to her family, but finds herself a pawn in a larger game. As Star learns more of Flora's journey, she too goes on a voyage of discovery, and opens herself up to the possibility of love.
