  • Booklist Reviews : Booklist Reviews 2019 October #1
In another installment of the Jack Ryan Jr. series, Jack is juggling a promise he means to keep to a friend, and a commitment to his father do work on a special covert job. Jack Jr. is traveling to Poland to seek out the secrets hidden deep in the Polish Mafia that have become embedded into the American government. Scott Brick does an incredible job in varying his characters' voice tones as well as in the inflections of all the accents Jack encounters in his globetrotting. The book takes place in many countries, and he does not skip a beat when a French-accented character is in dialogue with the Russian mafia boss, or as an Arabic soldier speaking to a Chinese diplomat. The narration is clear and understandable—many times it takes on a lively, radio-show feel through Brick's flawless narration. Copyright 2019 Booklist Reviews.
