Booklist Reviews : Booklist Reviews 2015 October #1 This installment in the Careers in Your Community series explores a topic not often discussed for young readers: how to become a tattoo artist. It takes a look at the process behind tattooing, some of the reasons people get tattoos, and the routes and apprenticeships an artist might take in order to work professionally. The layout leaves much to be desiredâthis is very text heavy, and many of the photos are awkward or low qualityâbut the information provided is thorough and to the point. One chapter on licensing and standards and another on opening a store could be particularly valuable to those seriously considering the industry. The text is sure to point out that much of the stigma surrounding tattoos and tattooing has ebbed in recent years, and presents the pros and cons of striking out in this business without bias.
